9 days in NYC
It is really difficult to summarise such a trip, but I will try to share the best of it with you!
The transition Reykavik/NYC's financial district was abrupt! From 14°C to 34°C, from the volcanics stones desert to skylines and crowded streets, yes indeed, we needed some good mexican food on Stone Street to get into the new york's flow.
We stayed the 2 first days at Sophia's (Nathalie's cousin) and Lystel's place in Jersey city, just in front Manathan. The 4th of July we spent the afternoon all together in China Town and Little Italy
humm... and in € what does it cost?
Ice cream with Roscane (Lystel's niece), Sophia, Albertina (Lystel's mamma) and Malaki the baby
Little Italy is little but you know that you are there
After this, we took the ferry to Staten Island with Roscane and had a nice view on:
and we saw the statue of the liberty of course, but wich one is the real one?
this one?
or this one?
After Jersey city we settled us in Alphabet city, the side of East Village close to avenue A, B & C! On the way to the rental appartment, a beer shop catched our attention. Why not? We offered to our fridge a selection of good american beers, cheers!
The same afternoon we went to Lystel's bike shop close to Central Park and rented 2 bikes for the week with a great discount!! thank you dude! It was super to visit New York by bike!! Patrik immediatly knew where he was in NY's streets grid and took us all around Manathan, Brooklyn, Harlem, Central parc, ...
"Patrik and the city" in Greenwich
In the hearth of Greenwich village... a swedish restaurant!
High Line! a green promenade on a former railway
best coffee of the trip before going on the high line: we highly recommend this little coffee "Cava", a bit expensive but definitively worths it!
high line jazz
the high line race
the high line seat styles, in the sun
and in the shadow
the high line's art
Chelsea Hotel: Patrik insisted to take many pictures of himself in front of the place where many legends lived (ex: Janis Joplin, Leonard Cohen, Patrik Hansson, Bob Dylan...)
In Chelsea market it is not difficult to know where the rest rooms are, follow the arrow!
Free car wash in Brooklyn!
Williamsburg in Brooklyn was a hip and friendly place! We followed Ben tips and had a cocktail in this oyster bar where all seems to come from Al Capone's time!
if you'd lost your way, look at the walls!
What are you thinking about?
Are you thinking about the burger that you ordered??
In New York and even more in Brooklyn the hippest is to bike on a "Fixie"! Those bikes with a single gear and differents colors for the weels and a cap that match the color of your tires!
"Can I help you?"
My favorit skyline is the Flat Iron!! (but my camera broke juste after this picture :( ... and got better at the end of the day :°)
Back to Stone Street we ate lunch with Sophia on monday!!
New York is the place to be!
We left things to do and to see for the next time we will come here, and the next time, and the next time..!
